Full Job Description:

Corporate Compliance Law is hiring a Legal Analyst, Compliance (paralegal) who can provide support to Compliance counsel for Chevron’s global businesses. This position provides paralegal support to the team of attorneys responsible for providing international trade, antibribery, and data privacy support to Chevron counsel and business unit representatives globally.

This position requires a skilled Legal Analyst who is knowledgeable in legal research, and contract reviews, is capable of managing various projects that may be assigned by Compliance Counsel, and exhibits strong leadership and influencing skills. The ideal candidate is an experienced Legal Analyst who thrives in a challenging and fast-paced environment, is technology proficient and has excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate should also excel at solving problems and exhibit a high level of initiative.

This position will perform paralegal tasks under the guidance and direction of attorneys, including:

  • Reviewing and managing contract reviews for alignment with compliance clause requirements;
  • Work with counsel and IT support to prepare document review protocols conduct and manage document reviews and monitor costs.
  • Assist with review of relevant trade documents for import/export compliance and antiboycott compliance;
  • Provide support to Trade Counsel for the Free Trade Agreement campaign and other ongoing projects led by Compliance Counsel
  • Research of various global anti-bribery and import/export requirements for Chevron’s global business;
  • Manage compliance law websites to provide timely updates, and help manage counsels’ iManage sites
  • Process docs continuity (desk manuals/procedures – version updates to ensure the same manuals/procedures are used by all in the team and outside (ex: imports SOP for the GOM – ensure the latest version is rolled out, etc.)
  • Support Chevron Compliance employees in complying with their legal hold responsibilities and understanding the information management lifecycle.
  • Support facilities with responses to government agencies.
  • Collaborate with the internal and external legal teams to manage preservation, data collection, and production.
  • Contribute analysis to, and develop solutions for, the legal teams supported.
  • Work closely with Chevron business partners, Compliance Regional Managers, Compliance and Trade Analysts, and Chevron counsel supporting the business to resolve a variety of issues relating to compliance support.
  • Ensure efficient and appropriate application of Law Function tools, processes, policies, and compliance through matter management.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a paralegal supporting litigation and transactional counsel.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, proofreading, editing, and research skills.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and maintain high-quality performance with competing deadlines and priorities in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Strong communication (both oral and written), collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and think independently on how to solve problems and offer solutions.
  • Demonstrate a growth mindset, initiative, and accountability.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite of tools and the ability to quickly learn new tools.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Paralegal certificate from ABA apABA-approved program or a law degree from an ABA-accredited school.
  • Advanced skillset in Microsoft Office tools (i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint, Forms, OneNote, PowerBI and Visio).
