About Clinton
Clinton, New Jersey is a picturesque Northeast town characterized by its timeless colonial architecture and natural beauty. It is also home to ExxonMobil’s Technology & Engineering Company (EMTEC), a facility comprised of 432 labs, 92 pilot plants, and 850 offices. As one of the engines for innovation within our company, our Clinton facility employs some of the world’s leading minds in their respective fields, with over half of our workforce holding advanced degrees in engineering, chemistry, and many more areas.
At our EMTEC Technology Center, we provide R&D support for our three main businesses: Upstream, Product Solutions, and Low Carbon Solutions businesses. We research, develop, and deliver differentiated, high-impact, game-changing technologies and products, the foundations of our competitive advantage. We focus on both long-term fundamental research and knowledge building as well as shorter-horizon commercial applications. Our time is split between office and lab work, collaborating with research teams to refine concepts and fuel innovation.
What role you will play in our team
We are seeking a candidate to join a research team investigating the behavior and future evolution of energy and electrical power systems. The successful candidate must have a strong background and demonstrated scientific excellence in energy systems modeling, including modeling of the electric power sector. Experience developing and using large-scale energy and/or power generation system models, familiarity with relevant optimization methods, and mathematical simulation software is necessary. A PhD in operations research, engineering, physics, or a related discipline is required. Postdoctoral experience in an academic, industry, or government setting is highly desired. The position is located in Annandale, NJ.

About you
Skills and Qualifications
- PhD in operations research, engineering, physics, or a related discipline
- Knowledge of state-of-the-art models and approaches in one or more areas related to energy systems analysis
- Ability to identify and engage leading external experts on energy modeling
- Experience translating complex scientific information into digestible insights for non-experts
- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities and stakeholders
- Willingness to travel

- Post-doctoral or related experience
- Outstanding analytical and communication skills
